Subdivision

Subdivision is a 4-episode ReelShort short drama. In a quiet forest, a reclusive moose-man named Ellis lives in peace until a deer-woman named Mae arrives with a clipboard and a list of violations from the Homeowners Association. What begins as a simple noise complaint grows into a slow replacement of the natural world with order and sameness. Each new rule removes something human and alive: rainwater, candlelight, trees. Through stillness, texture, and sound, SUBDIVISION turns bureaucracy into a quiet kind of horror. Beneath the control, a fragile connection forms between Ellis and Mae as they begin to question what it means to belong. Told through hand carved, woodcut style animation and an atmospheric soundscape, Subdivision is a surreal fable about control, conformity, and the cost of perfect order.*This entry is participating in the ReelShort Reel Vertical Impact contest
