His Lingering Warmth

Premise

Jiang Nanyin is searching for the truth behind the death of her boyfriend, Wen Ze. Her search leads her in an unusual direction. Huo Linchuan received Wen Ze's cornea in a transplant, so she gets close to him. Later, she turns to Fu Chengyuan, because he carries Wen Ze's heart. The opening sets up a story where a grieving woman is physically linked to the man she lost, and she uses those connections to pursue the people she believes are responsible. It is a dark, emotionally loaded premise that moves quickly from grief to strategy.

Characters

Jiang Nanyin is the protagonist, and her determination drives every scene. She is not simply grieving, she is planning, and she manoeuvres between two men to gather evidence. Huo Linchuan is the man with Wen Ze's cornea, and he falls deeply in love with her during her investigation. His feelings complicate her plan and give the romance its emotional core. Fu Chengyuan is the man who carries Wen Ze's heart, and he belongs to the Fu family that she is determined to bring down. The Fu family itself is the antagonist, a group with illegal crimes and a willingness to set traps and strike back.

Main arc

The story moves in layers. Jiang Nanyin first builds her connection to Huo Linchuan, then shifts her focus to Fu Chengyuan, and each step uncovers more of the family's wrongdoing. She gathers evidence while the two men grow closer to her, which creates a tension between strategy and affection. The Fu family does not stand still. It sets traps and fights back, so the stakes rise with each episode. With Huo Linchuan's help, Jiang Nanyin finally achieves her revenge. The Fu family is brought down, and she is able to let go of her past. The arc closes with her settling down with Huo Linchuan, which turns the revenge plot into a romantic resolution.

Themes & tropes

The primary tropes are revenge and betrayal. Jiang Nanyin's mission is a revenge plot, and the Fu family's crimes give the story a clear villain. The betrayal is layered, since the family's wrongdoing and the deception Jiang Nanyin practises both carry emotional cost. Romance runs alongside the plot, with Huo Linchuan's growing love complicating her investigation. The unusual premise of organ transplants linking the characters to a dead man adds a gothic tone that sets this drama apart from simpler revenge stories. The emotional question is whether Jiang Nanyin can release her grief once justice is done, and the story answers that through her move toward a new life with Huo Linchuan.

Why viewers watch

Viewers who like revenge stories with a strong romantic thread will find this series engaging. The transplant premise is a striking hook, and it gives each relationship a physical link to the past. The investigation keeps the episodes moving, and the Fu family's counterattacks provide regular tension. Jiang Nanyin is an active protagonist who makes her own choices, which makes the revenge feel earned rather than handed to her. The English edition on HappyShort makes the twists easy to follow without subtitles. If you enjoy a heroine who plays a long game and a love story that grows out of the chase, this drama offers a satisfying blend of both.
