Unexpected Vows and Lies

Premise

On her wedding night, Su Jin was drugged by her own sister and woke up in bed with Lu Yuchen, the CEO of the Lu Corporation. Her fiancé abandoned her soon after, and that night she never chose followed her for years. When she learns she is pregnant, she decides to raise the child alone rather than ask anyone for help, and the decision shapes every choice she makes after that.

Characters

Su Jin is the heroine, and she is stubborn in a way that makes her harder to pity. She builds a career as a tabloid journalist, a job that puts her close to the powerful people who once shaped her life, and she is good at it because she knows how easily people lie. Lu Yuchen is the CEO with every resource to fix a problem and no idea that a child exists. Her sister is the quiet betrayer at the root of the story, and her former fiancé is the figure Su Jin has the least reason to trust.

Main arc

The opening episodes lay out the wedding night and the abandonment, so the viewer understands what Su Jin lost before she starts to rebuild. The middle stretch covers years of single parenthood. She works in the tabloid world, keeps her child close, and builds a life that needs nobody's permission. Then chance puts her in front of Lu Yuchen again. Once he realizes the child is his, the story turns from a buried secret into a contest over who gets to tell the truth and who has to answer for the past. The later episodes push both of them toward a confrontation neither one has been ready for, and the tabloid angle keeps reminding the audience that public image and private damage rarely match.

Themes & tropes

Betrayal sits at the start of the story rather than the end, so the sister's choice keeps resurfacing as the emotional wound that never quite heals. The CEO trope creates a clear power gap, since Lu Yuchen has money and influence while Su Jin has only her nerve and her record of survival. The pregnancy drives the stakes, because the child is the one thing neither adult can walk away from. Across 101 episodes the series leans into a slow reckoning over who owed what to whom, and it gives the reunion room to build rather than rushing to a kiss.

Why viewers watch

Viewers who like a comeback built on personal grit will find plenty to enjoy here. The reunion carries real tension because neither side is clean, and Su Jin's refusal to beg keeps the early melodrama from feeling like a string of coincidences. The reveal about the child lands harder once you have watched years of her carrying it alone. Expect long stretches of emotional back-and-forth, and plan for a binge if you enjoy stories where the aftermath of one bad night drives everything that follows.
