Drunk On You

Premise

The story begins with pride. Liu Yali and Jiang Lu are both sure they can outdrink anyone, and the rivalry comes to a head when she finally meets someone who can keep up with her. The contest ends badly for her: she gets completely drunk right in front of him, the kind of humiliation that sticks. When she wakes with a hangover, her first goal is simple and a little petty. She wants to track him down and settle the score. The episode sets up a light, playful tone before the twist arrives.

Characters

Liu Yali is the driving force, a spirited woman who hates losing and refuses to let a bad night define her. Jiang Lu is the mysterious rival whose drinking tolerance seems almost impossible. The synopsis reveals that Jiang Lu is her brand-new boss, a fact she has no idea about when she sets out to find him. The synopsis names no other principal characters, so the workplace around them stays in the background, supplying the pressure that makes their rivalry awkward.

Main arc

The arc turns on the discovery that the man she wants to beat is her new boss. That reveal shifts the story from a drinking rivalry into workplace tension, where pride, professionalism, and attraction start to collide. The synopsis also hints at a hidden secret behind his unbeatable tolerance, which gives the plot a mystery thread running alongside the romance. Across 144 episodes, the likely pattern is a gradual uncovering of what he is hiding, with the rivalry softening into something more personal as each secret comes out.

Themes & tropes

Office Romance fits the premise closely, since the couple's relationship grows in a workplace where one of them holds power over the other. The Hidden Identity-style twist, a figure whose true nature is concealed, supports the mystery thread. The reversal of fortune in the tags points to a shift in who holds the upper hand. These are conventions of the workplace romance genre and the mystery structure, so read them as the likely shape of the drama rather than verified plot points.

Why viewers watch

Viewers who like short-form romance often enjoy a playful opening that turns into a workplace rivalry with a mystery attached. The drinking contest is an easy hook, and the boss reveal gives the story a clear, relatable tension. At 144 episodes this is a long binge, and its short-drama pacing suits people who want quick scenes with a steady push toward the next reveal. If you enjoy light banter and a secret that keeps you guessing, the premise is a good place to start.
